Your mom helps you carry things into your old room, but she doesn’t say much. Dinner is mostly silent, but she makes sure you take your prenatal vitamins.

Before you go to bed for the night, she lets you know that you two will figure out how to take care of the baby and that she is going to make sure Joe can’t get to you or the baby.

You feel uneasy, but safe.
