SHELTER – Card #1

You call the shelter and explain that you’re in a wheelchair. The advocate puts you on hold and comes back to tell you that the wheelchair ramp is covered with moss and they will have it cleaned tomorrow but tonight you would have to sleep in the playroom on the first floor. They are very sorry.

You decide it’s getting really late and you don’t want to cause anyone anymore problems. You can hear Jim’s voice echoing in your head, “No one will take care of you in that wheelchair. You are helpless and useless.” You return home.
