Tiana Cleary
ADVOCATE – Card #2
A lady is brought into your room and the nurse introduces her as an advocate. When it is just the two of you in the room she tells you that her name is Molly and she is here to help you. She tells you that the hospital sometimes calls people like her in when they think someone might need some help. She tells you that everything you tell her is totally confidential and that you don’t have to do anything you don’t want to.
You are hesitant at the beginning, but Molly puts you at ease with the way she listens and seems to understand. She tells you that it must be hard to be a pregnant student and asks you about your boyfriend. You pause for a moment then decide to tell her everything that happened. You take her hand and start crying. She tells you that it must be hard to keep all that stress in.
Molly tells you that you have different options and that she isn’t going to make you do anything you don’t want to. You wonder if you should tell the police what happened or if you want to just try and work things out with Joe. After all, the baby seems to be okay.
