Derek Johnson

I’m Derek and I just turned 16. I’ve been living with my grandmother since I was six years old, when my mom died. My dad was never really a part of our lives.

I pretty much like school and I do OK. My teachers always say, “Derek, you’re so smart, you’ve got so much potential,” but I think they’re just glad to have a brother with manners in their class.

I’m on the swim team and I’m really good. At first everyone was like, “Derek, have you thought about the basketball team?” But I’m only 5’10” and I don’t even like basketball. When I’m not in swim practice, I’m working as a lifeguard at the community pool. Or I’m with Charlene.

Charlene and I have been together for six months. We have a great time together; she is always taking me to cool places that I could never afford on my own and to try new things. Seems like she has the perfect life – her dad is this hot-shot lawyer, her mom is always baking cookies or something, and they live in this big house. Charlene is so beautiful, fun, and magnetic. I can’t even believe she gives me the time of day. I feel like I hit the jackpot with her, but sometimes it is a little hard…

Charlene Robbins’s Story

I’m Charlene, and I’m the baby of the family. When my mom gets drunk, she likes to say “Baby’s just another word for accident.” Thanks, Mom. Dad’s nere around. On the outside it all looks like we have the perfect life, but to be honest it’s work being me. I mean, I have to look good all the time since my dad is such a big shot.

But I got a good thing going with Derek. He’s cute and he’s all mine. I think it kind of pisses off my folks that I’m dating a black guy (but they are so caught up in appearances and being PC, they would never say that!)—and it feels good to do the unexpected once in a while. I am so good to Derek, and all I want in return is his 100% undivided attention all the time. Ha ha, JK. LOL. 🙂
